Local schools receive state funding
Education programs receive more than $2.8 million
School districts in
the 37th Senatorial District have received $2,863,216 in
state Educational Accountability Block Grants this year, according to
Senator John Pippy.
"With these funds
schools districts have been given the resources to develop or expand
academic programs to meet the guidelines of the federal No Child Left
Behind law and to help their students learn," Senator Pippy said. "It is
important that school districts do whatever possible to ensure that all
students receive the education they need to be productive adults."
The local grants
include:
- Avonworth School District, $68,362 for quality
full-day kindergarten programs.
- Baldwin-Whitehall School District, $408,080 for
science and applied knowledge skills, quality full-day kindergarten and
professional education.
- Bethel Park School District, $362,875 for
performance of student subgroups and social and health services.
- Chartiers Valley School District, $224,484 for
quality full-day kindergarten programs.
- Moon Area School District, $203,269 for tutoring
assistance.
- Mt. Lebanon School District, $253,633 for
district-specific proven program.
- Northgate School District, $167,650 for quality
full-day kindergarten programs.
- Peters Township School District, $184,751 for
district specific proven program, K-3rd grade class
reduction, performance of student subgroups and social and health
services.
- Quaker Valley School District, $45,849 for tutoring
assistance and K-3rd grade class reduction.
- South Fayette Township School District, $95,808 for
tutoring assistance and literacy and math coaching.
- South Park School District, $221,569 for social and
health services, performance of student subgroups, quality full-day
kindergarten programs and science and applied knowledge skills.
- Upper St. Clair School District, $177,643 for
performance of student subgroups.
- West Allegheny School District, $213,113 for social
and health services, performance of student subgroups and quality
pre-kindergarten programs.
- West Jefferson Hills School District, $236,130 for
district-specific proven program
