For Immediate Release *MEDIA ADVISORY*Mayview State Hospital Land Reuse Task Force Announces Web Site, Fourth Meetingwww.mayviewlandreusetaskforce.comMoon – A task force created to examine the reuse of Mayview State Hospital in South Fayette Township will hold its fourth meeting on Wednesday, and has launched a web site to keep citizens informed. Chaired by state Sen. John Pippy (R-37) and state Rep. Nick Kotik (D-45), the panel will hold a public meeting Wednesday, July 16 at 7 p.m. in the hospital's Regional Conference Room of the Dietary Building. Information on the task force, including meeting agendas and minutes, can be accessed at www.mayviewlandreusetaskforce.com. The Department of Public Welfare (DPW) is targeting the end of this year for closure of the hospital. The sole purpose of the task force is to address the issue of how to best reuse the facility once the hospital operations are closed. On Wednesday, the task force will hear from representatives of PENNDOT and the Allegheny Land Trust. The meetings are open to the public and include a public comment period. It is anticipated that the task force will meet regularly up to and potentially beyond the end of this year. According to DPW, no other state agency is interested in the property and there is no known private interest in the property. The Task Force held previous meetings in February, April and May.
