Senator Pippy Named to Leadership Post 

HARRISBURG - State Senator John Pippy of the 37th Senatorial District announced today that he has been named Chairman of the Senate Policy Committee.  Senate President Pro Tempore Joe Scarnati named Senator Pippy to this significant leadership position.

“I am honored to have been selected Senate Policy Chairman, where I will have the opportunity to play a greater role in shaping sound public policy,” Pippy stated.  “Being in this leadership position gives me a chance to work closely with my colleagues and address the diverse concerns of the citizens of the Commonwealth.”

According to Pippy, the Committee is responsible for playing a vital role in determining the impact of policy decisions on the citizens of Pennsylvania.

“It is imperative, whether it be through public hearings or committee meetings that we fully understand the significance of each and every policy decision,” Pippy added.  “I believe that by working together and receiving as much input as possible from various individuals and groups, we will make this Commonwealth a better place to live, work, and raise a family.”

Senator Scarnati also commented on naming Senator Pippy as the next Chairman of the Senate Policy Committee.

“I am pleased to name Senator Pippy to this leadership post,” Scarnati stated.  “He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the leadership table during a critical time in Pennsylvania.  There is no doubt that he adds a diverse skill set that will ultimately prove advantageous to the working families of this state.” 

“John understands the struggles facing many of our citizens during this difficult economic time,” Scarnati added.  “Without question, I feel very confident that his commonsense, practical approach to governing will be a valuable asset to helping Pennsylvanians turn the corner toward success.”

Senator Pippy joins the Senate leadership team of President Pro Tempore Joe Scarnati, Majority Leader Dominic Pileggi, Appropriations Chairman Jake Corman, Majority Whip Jane Orie, Majority Caucus Chairman Mike Waugh, and Majority Caucus Secretary Bob Robbins.

"While I am proud to have been named to this highly-respected post, I realize it means very little if we do not take measures to develop policies that allow workers to earn a family-sustaining wage and job creators to generate additional job opportunities” Pippy concluded.  “I am confident that as Chairman we will create sensible policies that give our citizens a greater sense of pride in their community, state, and in their government.”
